I like operetta. I like researching old shows and hearing new music.
Other than that, I'm not sure what I do. As for Discovery, I guess I'm sort of a provocateur or executive producer or cranky old fart and sometime performer. Depends on who you ask and when you ask them.
The successful Florodora opening in Paris noted in the NY Times, January 28, 1903. The encored cakewalk mentioned is undoubtedly Tell Me Pretty Maiden. (note they misspelled the composer's name and call it an operetta). I wonder if a libretto or score survives in French?
Encored several times, eh? Wouldn't it be fun if we occasionally revived that custom, i.e., let the audience know that if they shout loud enough and applaud long enough, we'll actually give them the number again on the spot?
